Honorable John
J. Cullerton
Senate President
160 N. LaSalle
Ste.720
Chicago, IL

Dear Senator
Cullerton,
Thank you for
placing your
trust in me and
giving me the
opportunity to
serve as a
member of the
DCEO Eliminate
the Digital
Divide advisory
committee. I
look forward to
working with
State
Representative
Connie Howard,
Cesar Lopez of
the DCEO, and
other committee
members to help
Illinois
residents get
better access to
computers and
computer
training.
I will keep you
apprised of
developments on
issues as we go
forward.
I¡¯d also like to
extend a
heartfelt thank
you to all of
the following
for their
longtime support
of education and
library
initiatives, and
their help in
other ways: to
Senator
Silverstein, who
wrote a letter
of
recommendation
to you on my
behalf; to
Senator
Schoenberg, who
worked with
Representative
Lang to
introduce
legislation that
would assist in
eliminating the
Digital Divide;
to State
Representative
Lou Lang,
who has been a
mentor and
longtime
supporter of our
efforts to
provide
information
resources for
all, anytime,
anywhere; and to
the Office of
Congresswoman
Schakowsky,
through Dave
Davis of her
staff, who has
worked with us
to make sure the
Congresswoman is
aware of the
need in our
state for
computer
accessibility,
training, and
consumer
friendly
information
services. Your
District Office
Manager, Jim
Shadid, deserves
a big thank you
for helping us
get through the
process.
Warm regards,

Thanked for his

the General

Representative
Lou Lang:
Although I live
nowhere near
your district
and tend to lean
more to the
Republican side
of Independent,
I want to
express my
thoughts on the
speech you gave
to the General
Assembly on the
7th of July. I
heard it on the
CapitolFax blog
and actually
read the
transcript as I
listened to it
on my computer.
I want to thank
you for you
candor,
intelligent
thoughts and how
you stepped up
and challenged
the governor.
I'm not much of
a political
junky (although
as a teacher
I tend to pay
more attention),
but I do follow
what happens (or
doesn't happen)
in Springfield.
I hope that you
will continue to
step to the
microphone and
tell the truth!
Please continue
to push your
leaders to
complete the
budget, and
please do so in
a truly balanced
fashion (not
stealing from
future money
sources as has
been done in the
past).
Thanks again,
you made my day!

Subject: General
thank you
Dear Rep. Lang,
I just wanted to
take a moment to
thank you for
your comments
yesterday before
the general
assembly. While
I am sure that
many remotely
aware of state
politics are
thinking the
same things, you
were able to
state the
"facts" of this
overtime session
very
eloquently.
While
politicians are
not really known
to be beneath
petty games, I
think it's safe
to say that the
finger for a
vast majority,
if not all, of
the blame for
this year's
political games
can be pointed
strongly at Mr.
Blagojevich (I
refuse to call
him Governor
anymore, since I
don't remember
the last time he
acted like one).
I actually am a
staunch
conservative and
generally vote
Republican
(although I did
vote for Lisa
Madigan and Dan
Hynes in the
last election).
Political
affiliation
aside, I believe
that Mr.
Blagojevich has
been a huge
embarrassment to
this state, not
just this
session, but for
the previous
four years, and
I would be
saying the same
thing if he was
a Republican. I
don't normally
seek to give
advice to the
Democratic
party, but I
honestly feel
that if the
Democrats in
this state stand
up and find some
way to get rid
of Blagojevich,
or at least
minimize his
influence as
much as
possible, it
would give a
huge lift to the
Democrats in
this state that
stand up for
integrity,
honesty, and
financial
responsibility,
such as you did
yesterday.
Thank you again
for your words
yesterday, and I
pray that
they'll make
some sort of an
impact in how
the rest of this
overtime session
proceeds
(although I
won't be holding
my breath).
Sincerely,
Keith Schroeder,

ROCK!
I absolutely
loved your floor
speech
yesterday. It
should be
printed in every
single solitary
newspaper in
this state, and
the sooner the
better. Keep up
the good work.

You
Representative
Lang,
I just wanted to
thank you for
the speech you
gave yesterday
speaking
about/to the
Governor.
Unfortunately, I
live in Park
Ridge and my
guess is that my
representation
was not present,
though I'm just
guessing on
that.
I did hear your
speech on The
Capitol Fax Blog,
and was
encouraged at
your thinking
and ability to
stand up to our
Governor...we
need more
thinking like
yours and more
Democrats
willing to step
up and publicly
challenge Rod's
policies and
decisions that
will leave the
State much worse
for them.
Again thank you
for your
actions.

DEAR LOU:
THANK YOU FOR SENDING THE TRANSCRIPT OF YOUR SPEECH TO ME. IT MADE
ME QUITE PROUD
TO KNOW YOU, NOT
JUST AS ONE OF
MY
REPRESENTATIVES,
BUT AS A
FRIEND. I DON'T
HAVE TO TELL YOU
HOW BADLY THIS
SITUATION
EFFECTS THE
PEOPLE OF
ILLINOIS. YOU
KNOW THAT VERY
WELL. YET,
IT'S COMFORTING
TO KNOW THAT
THERE REALLY ARE
PEOPLE OUT THERE
WHO GIVE A
DAMN.
I WISH YOU AND YOUR FELLOW REPRESENTATIVES THE VERY BEST OF LUCK.
THANK YOU FOR
YOUR HARD, AND
DEDICATED WORK
ON OUR BEHALF.
BEST REGARDS,
TERRY
